Lieutenant Colonel Sorin-Gheorghe ȘOANĂ

Born on 20 March 1977 in Focșani.

In 1995 he graduated the ”Ștefan cel Mare” Military High School (Câmpulung-Moldovenesc, ROU).

In 1999 he graduated the”Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy (Sibiu, ROU) as Infantry Officer.

In 2000 he graduated the Infantry Officer Basic Course at Advanced Infantry School (Făgăraș, ROU).

In between 2000-2006 he served as Platoon leader in the 307th Marines Battalion, the 280th Mechanized Infantry Battalion and the 265th Military Police Platoon of the 282nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade. During this period, in 2005 he graduated the Infantry Officer Basic Course and the Infantry Mortar Leader Course at Fort Benning, US.

In between 2006-2015 he served in S2 of the 282nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade as analyst and later as analysis chief. During this period, in 2007 he graduated the Reconnaissance Officer Advanced Course at Reconnaissance and Paratrooper Training Centre (Buzău, ROU).

Starting with Sept 2015, after he graduated the Command and Staff College and Master of Military Studies at Marine Corps University (Quantico, US), he served in G2 of the Headquarters Multinational Division South-East as Branch Head.


Starting with Sept 2017, after he was promoted to Lieutenant colonel, he was appointed as ACOS G2 of the Headquarters Multinational Division South-East.

In Nov 2018, he graduated with honours the NATO Regional Cooperation Course (NRCC-20) from the NATO Defence College (Rome, ITA).

Starting with June 2019, he was appointed Commander of the NATO Force Integration Unit, Romania.

He was deployed in Kosovo (2003) and Afghanistan (2004, 2010, 2012).

He received a Bachelor degree in Journalism and Philosophy and a Master degree in Security Studies.

He received the “NATO non-article 5 for Balkans” Medal, the “NATO non-article 5 for ISAF” Medal, the Honorary Title “Veteran Soldier” for militaries, the Honorary Symbol “Homeland Security Commitment” for 15 and 20 years of service and the Emblem of Honour of Intel Defence.
