Change of Command at NFIU ROU
Bucharest, Romania. Today, 04.04.2018, at the NATO Force Integration Unit Headquarters (NFIU ROU), the NFIU ROU Change of Command Ceremony took place. The event was held in the presence of the Commander of Headquarters Multinational Division South-East (HQ MND-SE), Brigadier General Daniel Petrescu, Brigadier General Thomas Carden JR, Deputy Commander of HQ MND-SE and the Land Forces Staff representative, Brigadier General Dorin Toma.
Lieutenant Colonel Emil Bobocea handed over the command of NFIU ROU to Colonel Cornel Tonea. In the speech that followed the handover-takeover ceremony, Brigadier General Petrescu expressed his gratitude towards Lieutenant Colonel Emil Bobocea for leading the NFIU, as well as his appreciation with regards to the professionalism with which the NFIU personnel performed in all their tasks and requirements so far. “I have never hidden the fact that I appreciate your work. We can tell you know your job based on your performance so far. For such a small HQ, you are very much appreciated. And I trust Colonel Tonea will also be a good leader. He has completed every stage, from Platoon Leader to Battalion Commander and I am confident he will do a good job.” Brigadier General Petrescu said in his remarks.
Previously, Colonel Tonea was the Comander of the 495th Airborne Battalion. Prior to his assignment as Battalion Commander, he served as ACOS G3 at HQ MND-SE. „During my time as a staff officer at Headquarters Multinational Division South-East, I had the chance to witness the development of the NFIU. I was impressed by the evolution of this new and complex Headquarters. I look forward to working with you. It is an honour for me to be here today as the new Commander of this Headquarters.”, said Colonel Tonea in his speech.
