MNJHQ Ulm Commander visits NFIU Headquarters in Bucharest
On Wednesday, 30 August 2016, the commander of the Multinational Joint Headquarters located in Ulm, Germany- Mutinatoinales Kommando Operative Fuhrung, lieutenant general Richard ROSSMANTH, conducted a documentation visit at the NFIU Romania Headquarters.
The German delegation was received by the NFIU ROU Commander, colonel Cătălin TICULESCU, who presented the distinguished guests the important aspects regarding the NATO Force Integration Unit headquarter’s activities.
The Multinational Joint Headquarters involves personnel from multiple countries and support for the planning and management of multinational land, naval and aerial operations of the EU and NATO, through a series of humanitarian and peace sustainment missions. Germany has offered to contribute with up to 18,000 soldiers and to manage these forces through the military structure at Ulm. For a world-wide intervention, the EU can employ, according to the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP), the armed forces of member states, summing up to a maximum of 60,000 soldiers.
At the end of the visit, the German oficial showed himself positively impressed by the structure and NFIU ROU capabilities and stressed its role as „the link between the host nation and the VJTF”.
